    State-of-the-Art Stump Removal

It is far safer, easier, and overall less intrusive to the surrounding soil to have tree stumps removed by stump grinding, rather than digging or pulling the stump out by force. When we grind down and remove your stumps, we’ll clear away anything left behind, leaving your lot cleaner and more level than when we started.

Enjoy the 24-hour service offered by your local and fully insured tree stump removal experts at Big Timber Tree Service LLC! With over 30 years of experience, you can count on our tree stump removal specialists to handle the job!

    How Stump Grinding Works

A stump grinder is a carbide cutting wheel on a self-propelled, tracked machine narrow enough to fit through a standard gate. It shaves the stump into chips a layer at a time, working below the soil line until nothing solid is left. Most residential stumps take under an hour, and there is no crane, no trench and no torn-up yard.

Stump grinding is included as an option on every tree removal we quote, and we grind old stumps left behind by storms or previous contractors just as readily.

    1. Grind Below Grade

A tracked grinder chews the stump and its main surface roots 4–6 inches below ground level – deeper on request for patios, fences or new plantings.

    2. Clear the Grindings

We rake out the mulch, haul it away or leave it as fill if you prefer, and backfill the hole with clean topsoil so the spot is level.

    3. Ready to Replant

Seed, sod, mulch bed or a new tree – the area is usable the same day, with no stump, no suckers and nothing to hit with the mower.

    Brush Removal & Lot Cleanup

Stumps rarely come alone. Storm-downed limbs, overgrown hedgerows, piles of brush from a DIY project or the tangle left at the back of a lot all get chipped, loaded and hauled away in the same visit. We bring the chipper and the truck, so nothing is left for you to drag to the curb.

Need more than a cleanup? Our land clearing and excavation crews handle whole lots for additions, pools and new construction, and any usable hardwood can be split and seasoned for our firewood delivery customers instead of going to waste.

    • Overgrown property lines and hedgerows cut back
    • Wood chips left on site for mulch if you want them

    Why not just leave it?

A Stump Is a Problem That Grows

A stump left in the ground does not stay a stump. Many species send up suckers for years, so you end up trimming a shrub you never planted. As the wood decays it draws carpenter ants and termites that are a short walk from your house, and the hollow it leaves behind sinks into a trip hazard right where kids play and mowers run.

Grinding it out closes the book: the pests lose their home, the lawn is level again, and the space is yours to use. It is the least expensive part of taking a tree down, and the one people are happiest they did.
